Dear Parents,
A focus of our fourth grade curriculum is a study of the presidents. 2008 was our first visit to Mount Vernon, the home of our first president, George Washington. The house and grounds have recently undergone an extensive restoration, which includes a fabulous education center. We had such an interesting experience the last three years that we want to offer the same opportunity to our girls this year; therefore, we will be traveling by bus to Mount Vernon next Tuesday, October 25. We are hoping for good weather, but please have your daughters dress in layers, as we will be walking all over the estate. The girls may wear nice pants, but they should also wear appropriate shoes for walking.
There is not a picnic area, so we will be purchasing lunch on the grounds. We have been told that each girl will need around $10. Please have your daughter at school by 7:00, as will leave at 7:15. We would like to be back by 3:30, but that may be a little too optimistic. Barring any traffic problems, we plan to return to school at or before 3:45.
This should be a great experience for all of us. Thanks so much for your support!
Sincerely,
Sloan Hiscock
Judy McCallum
Ginger Trice
